Community
Family involvement influences student success. Students with involved families are more likely to get good grades, take more challenging classes, have better attendance, and graduate. As a Title 1, Part A School with a School-Wide Program we focus on helping families get involved, stay connected, and give feedback. Here are a few ways you can do that:
Family Teacher Organization (FTO)
We encourage parents to join the FTO to help students build community, and support school events. Get involved today! Please contact at email: ORCAFTO@hoodcanalschool.org or visit the Hood Canal FTO Facebook Page.
Hood Canal Education Foundation (HCEF)
Families are welcome to join and/or support the Hood Canal Education Foundation (HCEF). HCEF is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization supported by parents/caregivers and community members to address the needs of Hood Canal students. Money raised is used to fund a variety of Hood Canal School projects. Meetings are the 2nd Monday of each month at 3:30 p.m. at school and are open to everyone. Please visit the HCEF Website for more information.
Volunteering
We love to have family members volunteer in our school. This can be for one-time events or ongoing. A completed volunteer packet and background check are required. Visit our Volunteer Page for more info.
Visitors
We encourage family involvement at Hood Canal School. Family members are welcome in the classroom as prearranged volunteers, to have lunch with their student(s), and to attend events and assemblies. Visitors need to sign in at the office and pick up a visitor’s badge. Please note that classroom observations must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance through the building principal.

School Improvement Plan (SIP)
At Hood Canal School, we are committed to creating an environment where every student can thrive. Our School Improvement Plan reflects this by focusing on key areas such as academic achievement, attendance, student engagement, and improving teaching practices. Through intentional efforts, staff collaboration, and community involvement, we work to support the growth of all students. By aligning our efforts with state and district goals, we make sure the path forward prioritizes great teaching, keeps students at the center, and ensures continuous improvement.
