Indian Parent Committee (IPC)

Hood Canal

The Indian Parent Committee at Hood Canal School is a dedicated group committed to enhancing the educational experience and well-being of our Native students. Open to anyone who cares for or works with Native children, our committee welcomes parents, family members, community members, and staff.

Our Mission

Our primary goal is to determine the best ways our school can serve and meet the unique needs of our Native students. By fostering a collaborative environment, we aim to create effective strategies and programs that support academic achievement, cultural preservation, and overall student success.

What We Do

  • Monthly Meetings:

    • The committee meets monthly to discuss important topics, share insights, and plan initiatives. These meetings are a platform for meaningful dialogue and collaboration among all members.

  • Free Food and Childcare:

    • To ensure that all members can participate fully, we provide free food and childcare at every meeting. This allows families and caregivers to engage without any added stress or inconvenience.

  • Grant Oversight:

    • The committee oversees two grants specifically designated to support Native students. These funds are used to implement programs, resources, and activities that directly benefit our Native student population.

  • Community Engagement:

    • By involving parents, family members, community members, and staff, we create a strong network of support. Our collective efforts help to address the diverse needs of our students and ensure they have access to the best possible education.
