We value the input of all stakeholders in the educational process.
Empowerment: We strive to empower students with disabilities to become independent, confident learners and active members of their communities. Through personalized instruction and support, we aim to equip our students with the skills they need for lifelong success.
Equity: We are committed to providing equitable access to educational opportunities for all students. Our special education services are designed to remove barriers and ensure that every student has the tools and support they need to succeed.
What is an Individualized Education Program (IEP)?
An Individualized Education Program (IEP) is a tailored educational plan created collaboratively by families, schools, and other stakeholders to address the unique needs of children with disabilities. The IEP serves as a legal document, detailing the specific services and supports the student will receive to help them succeed academically, behaviorally, and developmentally.
IEP Process:
Referral and Evaluation: The process begins with a referral, followed by a comprehensive evaluation conducted by a school psychologist and other qualified professionals. This evaluation assesses the child's strengths and areas of need.
Developing the IEP: An IEP team, including families, educators, specialists, and advocates, collaborates to develop the IEP. This team meets to discuss the evaluation results and to set measurable goals tailored to the child's specific needs.
Starting Services: Children as young as three years old may begin receiving services through an IEP. These services are designed to provide individualized instruction and support in various areas, including academic skills, behavioral development, and other developmental milestones.
Students with IEPs receive customized instruction and supports to address their unique challenges and help them achieve their full potential. The IEP outlines specific goals, services, accommodations, and modifications necessary for the student’s educational success.
