Request for Qualifications (RFQ): Architectural Services

The Hood Canal School District is seeking Statements of Qualification (SOQs) from qualified architects for professional services related to an upcoming capital projects levy and subsequent design and construction. The levy election is planned for February of 2025. Services would include support in preparing information for the levy. The project, which depends on passage of the levy, anticipates the following key components:

  • Construction of a new transportation center and bus loop

  • Addition of a new wing to the school, which will include a new early learning center and library

  • Installation of a new playground

  • Site improvements

  • Various other capital improvements to the school facilities

The total project budget, including state matching funds, is estimated at $20 million.

Submission Details:

Interested architects are requested to submit a Statement of Qualification (SOQ) by the end of business on September 6, 2024. The SOQ can be emailed to lgibbon@hoodcanalschool.org. It may also be mailed to or dropped off at the address below, provided it is received by the deadline. The SOQ should include, at a minimum, a detailed resume that provides the following information:

  1. Professional Staff: Description of the professional staff and their respective roles.

  2. Project Experience: A list of projects completed in the past two years, including a contact person for each project.

  3. Current Contracts: Status of current contracts.

  4. Site Supervision: Description of typical site supervision practices.

  5. References: References from a bank, bonding company, and three clients.

  6. Cost Estimates: Exhibits of cost estimates for the two most recent projects.

We encourage submissions from minority and women-owned firms.

Selection Process:

Submissions will be screened by selected district staff to identify firms for interviews. Following the interview, the superintendent will negotiate a professional services fee with the top-ranked firm. If an agreement cannot be reached, negotiations will proceed with the next highest-ranked firm.

The final contract recommendation will be presented to the school board for approval at the Sept. 19, 2024 Board Meeting. Preliminary/conceptual design and planning will begin as possible after the contact is approved.
