Dear Families,
I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to let you know about changes that are coming to Routes 207, 214 and 206 on Monday, Sept. 23, 2024. As you may or may not know, our wonderful Route 207 bus driver, Dave, has decided it was time to retire. The timing of his retirement was somewhat unexpected. We’ve moved quickly and reached out to a couple applicants to replace Dave, but it could take a week or two to complete the hiring and training process (hopefully, less).
During this transition, we’re asking for your help. Starting on Monday, Sept. 23, 2024:
Students from the Lake Cushman area will temporary be riding Bus 214 and we need families to drop off and pick up their children at the Cushman Maintenance Office.
Students at the Tribal Center and Head Start stops will begin riding Bus 206.
Some pick up and drop-off times for students on Route 214 will also change temporarily.
See our Transportation Page for specific pick up and drop-off time changes. The new times are near the top of the page.
I know this is a significant change and could be a hardship for many of you, and I truly wish we had a different option right now.
We’ll do everything we can to make this temporary arrangement as smooth as possible and will keep you updated on our progress in finding a replacement. We believe this will only be for a week or two, and we will let you know when we have a new driver in place so we can resume our prior stops (with the exception of the Tribal Center and Head Start stops, which will remain on Route 206).
Your patience and support during this time mean a lot to us. Please know we’re here to listen if you have any questions or concerns. For specific route questions, please do not hesitate to contact our Transportation Office at (360) 877-5463 x. 221.
Thank you for your understanding, and for all you do to support our students and community. We appreciate you!
Sincerely,
Dr. Lance Gibbon, Superintendent
